From My Window

by Leigh Doughty

from my window
I watch
three sparrows
on a telephone
wire
one flutters
off.
then
the second one
soars,
only one remains,
moments pass,
then
it too has
gone.
from my window.
I watch,
there’s
no wings
to rise,
still
there’s beauty
just
nowhere to go
